Well this will be our last wedding trailer post for 2011! It has been an absolute fanstatic year for our small company, and I am so excited to see what God has in store for us next year:) Several new people have become part of our filming and editing team. On a side note, we are actually filming a wedding on the last day of 2011, that will carry into the first day of 2012. This New Years Eve DC wedding couldn't come any faster, and we couldn't be anymore thrilled to film it!

Now onto this spectacular wedding story, I first met Sierra at the beginning on this year at our local Sbux. She expressed to me how important her wedding film was to her, and all the specifics and details she wanted us to capture in her own film. Fast forward several months after booking, we randomly got a lead at our church for a couple looking to join a small group in our area...turns out it was Sierra and Joel. Joel and I hit it off real lywell, and so did the girls. We all became good friends over the past year, so when their wedding day finally came in October we couldn't have been more excited to be a part of their big day!

I love filming weddings at Veritas Winery, such a beautiful backdrop for an outdoor ceremony. Lauren and Andrew had a great creative team for their wedding. I thought the stationary from Bella Figura was quite creative! I guess L&A are also big Vineyard Vines fans cause they pulled out the big pink whale hats for pictures....the bridal party was hoping to make the front page of Vineyard Vines blog...and they did=) It's always refreshing to film so many little details that make these trailers so interesting to watch.

I remember when Susan contacted me a year ago about filming her wedding. She said she found us on Facebook, as one of her friends were tagged in one of our wedding trailers. Oh, the joys of online networking=) Some of the best moments from the day was the filming the traditional Korean Paebaek ceremony.

Some exciting news, I was informed by Susan that her wedding was selected to be published in Philadelphia Magazine this coming spring!

Stephen + Taryn || Palos Verdes, CA ||

Hands down, this was one of our favorite couples this year! Taryn is a very gifted artist//painter and hails from South Africa. Stephen is from my hometown of Virginia Beach and is now a rescue diver for the US Coast Guard, stationed in LAX. The couple were married at the Palos Verdes Lighthouse on USCG property overlooking the cliffs of Southern California. One of the most memorable moments of the day was when steve's buddies from the Coast Guard did a surprise helicopter flyby, and then hovered over the couple while they posed for photos!

I loved everything about this wedding, from its location to originality. Each detail displayed in this film{bridesmaids dresses, gifts, boutonnieres/head pieces, invitations, and centerpieces} was hand made by this talented bride. Taryn actually wore the same floral head piece her grandmother wore some 40 years ago! I was very grateful for the opportunity to be a part of this amazing couple's wedding!

Ben + Ghazal || Persian wedding ||

I love being a part of cultured weddings. Ghazal has Persian roots, and wanted to mix some her family's traditions into their ceremony. The backdrop for the ceremony takes place in a specially decorated area with flowers and a beautiful and elaborately decorated spread on the floor called "Sofreh-ye Aghd". Traditionally Sofreh-ye Aghd is set on the floor facing east, the direction of sunrise (light). Consequently when bride and bridegroom are seated at the head of Sofreh-ye Aghd they will be facing "The Light".

Persians love to dance, we had so much fun documenting the event!! From the toasts, to the dancing, you can just tell how much family meant to this couple. Thanks to Ghazal and Ben for letting us be a part of their big day!

So I am right in the middle of crazy busy wedding season, and Crystal George contacts me and says, "hey, are coming out Friday night to the shoot?"....ooohhh yeeah, I totally forgot Crystal had been planning this shoot for a couple months now. What started out as a fun TTD session turned into a full on concept shoot with models and a production crew. Crystal was inspired off the lyrics of Adele's new song, Set fire to the Rain..

Anyway, we had a blast filming this.There were so many creative elements to this shoot, Crystal had some great ideas. I got to use my new slider for the very first time. I even shot some super 8 while I was there. Special thanks to all of the following people: West Manor, Kristen Carlson, Jessie Sides, Andy Coleman, Peter & Jen Koech, Ashley Perilloux, Ryan George, my wife Lyndsey, and Crystal's two models, Kevin & Melanie Van Wynsberg.

Father's Table Bakery

I've been to many weddings over the years, and Ken Reed {Father's Table} is by far one of our area's best caterers. Aside from making delicious food for weddings, Father Table is a full service Bakery, and Cafe in Forest, Va. I love hearing about the history and background of an individual's life, to learn where they came from, and how they started their own business. I don't think a lot people are aware of what goes into making fresh pastries, and baked goodies. I painfully but willingly woke up around 3am just to tell this story. Ken shared with me there is an exact science to making these yummy treats, an extra pinch of salt can throw off a whole batch of pastries. Well I never tasted anything less than scrumptious since shooting there! I really enjoyed getting to know the staff at FT, and I'm looking forward to watching this new business grow!

Hema + Shalin || Hindu Wedding ||

I've always, always wanted an Indian wedding in our portfolio. Several months ago this beautiful couple blessed us with the opportunity to document their cultured event. This was our very first Hindu wedding! I think my favorite part of the trailer was Vidai(Indian tradition where the bride says last goodbyes to her family)...very moving images with the super8 intertwined with HD footage...

I am so excited to share that Hema + Shalin's wedding trailer was recently featured on MaharaniWeddings.com!! What an honor to be displayed on such a respected Indian blog as Maharani!

Marina + Ray || Sundara ||

This was a beautiful wedding for an inspiring couple. Marina and Ray both come from families in the medical field. Both sets of parents are respectable doctors, so the apples did not fall far from the trees=) Marina is about to start her Pediatric residency, and Ray has two years left in his Radiology residency.

I am all for new experiences, and Ray and Marina's wedding was definitely an amazing experience! This was the first Orthodox Egyptian/Christian ceremony that we have filmed. There was a lot of chanting and singing in doxology/verses from the Bible. Marina and Ray did not exchange vows or rings during the ceremony like traditional Christian or Catholic weddings. Towards the latter end of the ceremony, they were robed and crowned by the Church officials! They both resembled royalty, it was really fascinating!

This was the second time we have had the privilege of shooting at Sundara in Boones Mill, Va. It is truly a gorgeous venue! I could tell from first meeting Marina, that this girl had all of her ducks in a row.... and man was I right...Stephanie & Marina spent a lot of time making this reception perfect! I can't wait to see the images taken from their talented photographer, Marta Locklear... I won't list every little detail but you will be able to see from the wedding trailer that it was done right! Congrats Marina and Ray, glad to hear your enjoying your Mediterranean honeymoon!

If you live in the Central Virginia area, then you're well aware of Celebration Bridal. They're our area's premier Bridal/Prom couture shop, located right here in downtown Lynchburg, Virginia. When Leecy Fink contacted me about the possibly of making a promotional video for their shop, as well as revamping their old website...I jumped at the opportunity=)

A few months later, we took a few trips downtown, to film and capture testimonials from past clients, as well as what you can expect to experience at the shop, as told by Celebration's staff. We even interviewed one of our 2010 Brides, Angelica. It was a really fun project to be a part of! Hope you enjoy it and be sure to check out the outtakes at the end!!

I met Carissa a few years ago, at a Bridal show in Salem. She was working for event designer (Angela Corsair with Corsair Floral & Decor). Carissa was telling me how she had a real love for video, as she also worked for another wedding videography company in town. Just last year she inquired about us filming her own wedding at Sundara! When I first received the inquiry, I remember her right away...such a sweet girl! Keegan and Carissa have awesome story of how they were brought together in life's tragic events. There is so much creativity that is kept cooped up all winter long...so when spring/wedding season finally comes around, I can't help but put that creativity to good use! I have been looking forward to filming Ben and Kaitlyn's wedding for some time now. I can't remember exactly when Kaitlyn first contacted me about filming their wedding. She said that it was the memories that were most important things to book first in the planning process. I love when clients have an utter respect and love for our craft, just as much as we do! Unfortunately, I'd gotten sick a few days before the wedding....but luckily, I felt much better on the morning of their wedding day. It did end up raining that day, but that didn't stop this couple from having an absolute blast in celebrating their marriage together! This was the first time I've had the privilege of filming a wedding at such a beautiful facility as Keswick Hall. I really enjoyed the whole process of putting this wedding trailer together. I especially enjoyed shooting around the grounds of UVA. Charlottesville weddings are always so beautiful!

Awhile back, Lyndsey and I had the privilege of helping out with a photography work shop for VPPA, right here in Lynchburg, Va. Lisa Carter was coordinating the whole gig, along with our super talented friends, Scott and Adina from Hayne Photographers. We really enjoyed our time with Lisa, so shortly after, she referred Misha to me. Misha was busy planning her wedding as most brides do, but she was doing this all from NYC! She worked in the fashion industry for some time. This bride had quite the vision for her wedding, as evidence by the gorgeous floral arrangements and decor by Caroline LaRocca Events. We were super excited to shoot this wedding, as it was our first wedding of 2011 wedding season. Can I just say it freakin' poured buckets the day of their wedding!! Luckily, we dried out inside for the rest of the festivities! Such a fun wedding to be a part of! Congratulations to Carter and Misha Cua!

Royal Romance :: Editorial Shoot/BTS Video ::

I've had the privilege of being a vendor on Hill City Bride, an online resource for brides in the Central Virginia area. Awhile ago, Jennifer Prince(who runs HCB) came up with an idea of having a stylized shoot with the theme of Napoleon and Josephine Bonaparte. Jeremiah Guelzo(photographer/art director)and Jennifer(project coordinator/art director) orchestrated this event, and used trade specific Hill City Bride vendors to make this vision into a reality. Shaking Hands Productions had the privilege of filming the behind the Scenes footage from the editorial shoot. We even mixed in some super8 film to give it an extra vintage feel.

Lynchburg Living puts out an annual wedding issue entitled, "Hitched"...the magazine gave HCB a four page spread for our editorial shoot. The HCB vendors did a phenomenal job working together and making this a legit big time production in such a small town.

First off, I love being around people who make you laugh and smile...Crystal George is definitely one of those people! Everything about Crystal is just so real...so transparent, and just a calming spirit about her....I am proud to call her my friend...Crystal just recently rebranded herself, and wanted a new image for her talents as a gifted photographer....so I loved putting this promo together, completely different from her last video w/ intriguing locations seen throughout the promo....one location even being my old stomping grounds of Virginia Beach/Norfolk. Special thanks to Rich and Tim for the beautiful cinematography. I think this piece really shows off the wonderful personality and qualities of Crystal, that really makes her stand out from the rest.

Crystal, was just recently featured on Shutter Wars, a reality webisode where 5 photographers go head to head to capture the best shots while being scrutinized by the judges(think Iron Chef).

I needed to get my blog on today. Josh + Marjorie's wedding is extra special to me. Probably because we both share the same wedding date(9.25.10). I obviously didn't shoot this wedding, but I enjoyed editing it so very much! We get a lot of inquires where potential clients are very concerned with me being available to shoot their wedding. If I am available for a particular date, I will shoot it, but if I am not...I also have associates that shoot weddings in the same style as myself. Anna and Paul were married this past November, and had their reception at the beautiful Tresca on 8th in downtown Lynchburg. I cannot say enough of how absolutely gorgeous their reception was! I was just mesmerized by all the details, and lighting accents that were displayed. There was a beautiful arrangement of flowing grapes, and towering candles over the couples' dining table...very tuscany feel throughout...I pinched a grape thinking it too ripe, too real looking...nope, definitely real. The florals and decor were handled by the 'oh so talented, Rod Meek and Co.

I've heard about and seen Blue Ridge Light Forms' work in all the magazines and blogs..needless to say, I am a HUGE fan of their AMAZING work. Event lighting creates a mood to your event that is truly intimate and unforgettable. We shot a few weddings this year that featured their talent. Aside from all of that, we've had the privilege of working on their promotional video/new portfolio website over the past year in a half. We have really enjoyed getting to know their staff and workers. We launched the brand new site just a few days ago!

wrapping up a great year:: 2010::

Well a lot has changed since returning from our honeymoon in St. Maarten!!! I have been going non-stop, good things are in store for Shaking Hands Productions, and I feel very blessed! I have been renting a small shared space in downtown Roanoke, Va for the last three months. I haven't had a chance to take a few photos...so I snapped a few tonight....it's a really great spot in the art district to meet with SW Virginia clients.

We were just recently interviewed on Completely Unveiled:: Weddings Unveiled Magazine's savvy style blog. So honored to be a part of that movement! Look for our new ad in both the fall 2010 and spring 2011 issues.

Also, I am soo ecstatic to share that we were chosen to be a part of the Grace Ormonde 2011 Platinum List! I am really looking forward to being a part of such a successful and elite group.

I attended a video convention over the summer that really opened eyes to what I have been missing in both event and commercial video production, I am definitely implementing some of those ideas into my work platform and overall business plan...one part of that is getting rid of dv-tapes and going completely tapeless....but still keeping my 8mm film cameras as you see=)

Josh + Tessa :: two J.A.G.'s in love ::

These two were such a pleasure to work with! Tessa contacted me from Korea last year about her wedding. I was quite interested why an american girl was contacting me from overseas. I later found out that she and her fiance were Army J.A.Gs doing work abroad! I was very impressed to say the least=) I soon after learned that they loved the vintage look and so wanted Super8 interlaced into their wedding film. They had the wedding at King Family Vineyards, near Charlottesville as they met in a training program in Charlottesville...

Well the day finally came for their wedding, I was a little confused when I showed up to where the family was getting ready. I was greeted by her father who had quite proper english accent. Turns out Tessas' family moved away from the UK as newly weds, and she and her brother grew up in the states without accents...Apparently, I find this quite amusing =) Well, their wedding was absolutely beautiful, especially the reception...and here is a list of vendors that made it happen!

Clare + Justin :: All you need is love :: Charlottesville, Va ::

This was such a fun wedding to be a part of! Clare emailed me about a year ago, inquiring about her wedding...when we started emailing each other about their wedding details, she expressed how they wanted to have an outdoor wedding, and it definitely wouldn't be conventional. It would be a super stellar and fun reflection of their personalities. They would have lots of performing musicians as they were "performers" themselves...a blue grass band and a rock and roll band, a bonfire, fireworks, moonshine to drink ..much like a Woodstock theme, but instead it would be called "Love Fest". Several months later, on the night before we all met..Clare wrote me a confirmation email about where we were going to meet, which included their last names in the email....She hadn't included that information in her emails thus far, so I randomly googled them...and I was blown away with the search results!...I could go on and on, but this video we just edited pretty much sums up on how they met=)

...Justin and Clare are some of the nicest people I have ever met...seriously, and they go together so well.

Details leading up to the wedding day, the site of the wedding was at a private estate in Charlottesville, Va...as Justin grew up there. The ceremony site was by the lake, at the end of the dock. The backdrop was the blue ridge mountains and the couple were framed by a unique hand made arch made out of grapevine and decorated with vintage peach dahlias, white roses and vines. All designed and made by Bianca @ Ivy Corner, Charlottesville. There was a huge handmade sign titled "Love Fest". Our video production team even got these awesome backstage pass looking lanyards.

Both bride and groom's attire were completely custom made. Clare's gorgeous dresses were designed/made by herself and designer Jennifer Jacobs... Justin's suit was designed by himself and Rey Akino and made by Serj Tailoring in L.A. Clare personally styled all the bridesmaids, flowergirls, and paige boys. Hair was done by Asley Gaunt from London and makeup by YvetteBeebe .

Justin and Clare love the vintage vibe so they had us shoot several rolls of super8 and 16mm movie film. Justin and all the wedding party entered the ceremony site walking down a big hill to "All you need is love" a version custom recorded and arranged especially for the wedding.

During the ceremony, Jimmy Fortune performed a song and they passed their rings through the guests to be blessed.

The reception was spectacular! Great food, lots of drinking and dancing under a beautiful tent. They had fireworks and a huge bonfire burning all night! Everyone was given a personalized shot glasses to take home, Justin played guitar, Clare sang for him and the party didn't stop till 4am!! Totally rock and roll! This wedding was a one of a kind and we were blessed to be a part of it!

I have really enjoyed spending the last several months getting to know Joe Kalkstein and his new beautiful wife Melovee. We produced a promotional video and new website(launching in a few weeks) for their company, Blue Ridge Light Forms. Outside of owning such an outstanding event lighting company, Joe is one the nicest and hardworking guys you'll ever meet and Mel is oh so fun to be around! When they asked me to film their wedding, I was honored and thrilled!

Joe and Mel were married at the gorgeous Kluge Estate Winery in Charlottesville. Reverend and Charlottesvilleweddingblog.com columnist, Claire Goodman performed a beautiful ceremony. That day was probably one of the hottest evenings this summer, but everything flowed just fine though thanks to Reagan Kerr at Easton Events! The decadent food was prepared by Mosaic Unique Events. I always enjoy meeting new photographers.. Jack Looney and Aaron were a pleasure to work with! Of course Joe's staff did a fantastic job on the A/V and lighting that evening...including surprise confetti canons tucked under fabric treatments in the ceremony tent! Mel's cousin from NJ was the DJ that night and played non-stop awesome music! Joe and Melovee, I hope you enjoy the highlights!

James + Sarah :: DC wedding::

We had the most amazing time filming this couples' wedding! James and Sarah had an epic reception at the luxurious Hotel Monaco in Washington, DC. Everyone involved in this wedding can attest on how accommodating James and Sarah were, even on their wedding day! You should see these two together, I could tell right from the start that they were meant to be. Aside from being a perfect couple and clients, James and Satah are part of a competition dance team in DC called "Capital Funk". The reception dancing was so very entertaing to watch=) I even cut a remix video from the stellar dancing footage....you can view on our Facebook page! Capital Funk is not just any dance group, they recently place first at the Main Event, a hip hop dance competition in NJ. James and Sarah, thank you for letting us be a part of your special day! Ahh...Virginia Beach, I miss it so much. I wanted so badly to shoot this wedding but I had a prior booking...at least I was able to still edit this awesome wedding=) Lauren is the sister of Chelsea, who is a dear friend of ours as well as a past client. I knew Lauren and Drew's wedding would be the perfect fit for my new wedding workflow/platform, as both bride and groom were super fun, artsy and open to new ideas. That being said, this wedding was shot entirely on the new Canon 7d. These digital picture cameras have literally changed the video industry as we know it. I was absolutely blown away at the clarity, depth of field and resolution of this DSLR's footage! Lauren and Drew, I hope you guys enjoy your highlights as well as your finished video! I know a lot went into it=)

Megan + Lee :: Smith Mountain Lake wedding::

Lee and Megan Willard were married at The Water's Edge Country Club in Penhook, Va. Lee's father is the owner of this fine facility and golf course. I have never been to this side of Smith Mountain Lake before...this scenic country club is tucked away in a private development just off the main road. I heard that they don't have to many wedding there but hopefully that will change once this video surfaces;) I remember it being extremely hot that day, but that didn't stop us from getting some amazing details of this gorgeous wedding and couple. Megan kinda resembles a celebrity....Jessica Beal anybody?? lol Lee and Megan....I hope you guys enjoy your video!

Event Lighting...a necessary "option" for special occasions

I had the absolute privilege of producing this promotional video for Blue Ridge Light Forms out of Charlottesville, Va. BRLF is Virginia's premiere lighting company. They specialize in event lighting for corporate events/weddings. I will be debuting their brand new website in the next month or so. I have seen BRLF's work for several years now, and I have been completely blown away at the ambience and sheer magic this team of design experts are able to create with lighting fixtures. Each job that BRLF takes on is drafted and engineered to perfection. One of their featured clients in this video, was the Boy's and Girl's Clubs of America's annual dinner/auction fundraiser. This event was held at the John Paul Jones Arena in Charlottesville, Va. There are even a few distinguished guests in this video=)

I have been following these guys around for the past few months and filming some of their big set ups in the local Virginia area. Another job featured in this video was the grand opening of Tresca on 8th, a new local wedding venue in the Lynchburg area.

We had an awesome time shooting this engagement session with Paul and Anna! Earlier in the year, I found this perfect spot in the back roads of Goode, Va. The weather and lighting were absolutely gorgeous. Anna said that the area where we shot was just minutes from where she grew up..."it fits us well" she said.

Sam Stroud was the talented photog on hand. Sam does a great job at keeping things fun and flowing. Anna and Paul, I am really looking forward to your wedding at Tresca this fall.

I thoroughly enjoyed filming the wedding of Ryan and Barrett Divina. These two were awesome to work with! This was probably the biggest wedding party I've ever seen!...10 attendants for both the Bride and Groom! The couple was married at St. Johns Episcopal Church in Lynchburg. Also, their reception had quite the gathering at Boonsboro Country Club. I watched as this small country club turned into an absolute Rave! Good lord these people know how to party! The night was filled with awesome music, great food and drinks. The band and amazing talent that night was "Trademark", out of Richmond, Va. Barrett and Ryan, thank you guys for letting me be apart your special day! May God bless your life together!

I am super excited to share this video with you! This was the first international wedding for Shaking Hands Productions, and man did we have a blast!! Gretchen is an actress in NYC, Joe is a director and current film student at NYFA. Their wedding took place in the beautiful Mexican Riviera...Puerto Morelos to be exact, which is 30 miles south of Cancun. They reserved the entire venue for all guest while we were there. Unfortunately, it had several torrential downpours while we were there....even the day of the wedding. Gretchen and Joe did not let the weather dominate the outcome of their wedding. Despite the on and off rain, Gretchen decided she wanted to get married outside. It's funny, cause it was consistently raining throughout the day and all sudden, it stopped... I feel God granted them favor for their nuptials=)...the rest of the day had on and off rain.

Scott Hayne Photography:: No Rules Workshop ::

So I was planning a trip to Orlando, to help out a friend with a 24hr film festival entry, then I noticed via facebook, that Scott and Adina Hayne were doing a workshop in the Orlando area. They were having their workshop on a Friday, well I was flying into Orlando that same Friday. Some messages were exchanged and plans were slightly rerouted... so what was to be a vacation turned into a work day.... but I really enjoyed it! Scott and Adina are uber talented and I have worked with them before(Holly & Billy), as I used to live in the Hampton Roads area.

Scott and Adina are coming to lynchburg in August, to teach a workshop/seminar for the Virginia Association of Professional Photographers!

We just finished another website, this time for Petal Flower Company here in Lynchburg. Elisha Dudley and Lara Winn are floral artists! They can do arrangements for the traditional or modern bride. You can really see their creativity through out the new site. I love their work, my Fiancee Lyndsey loves their work....so we definitely booked them for our wedding this September! Their website has a portfolio based style to it. The girls did an awesome job with picking the color schemes for the photo galleries. Thank you to all the local photogs who contributed beautiful pictures of their amazing work!

On a side note, Petal Flower Company and Shaking Hands Productions, just became members of West Manor Event's Verified vendor program. I am really excited to share that I will be working on a promotional video as well as new website for Blue Ridge Light Forms....they are an amazing event lighting company out of Charlottesville. I have been following them around at their set ups here in Virginia, including the local debut of Tresca on 8th in downtown Lynchburg. I had no idea how much goes into the preparation of these lighting fixtures. BRLF's can build anything the mind can imagine...and from scratch. I cannot wait to show you the final product! Below are some frame grabs from some of their recent setups. This past weekend they were hired to create the lighting for the Boy and Girls Club's annual black tie event.

We provided her with new branding and new marketing material. Websites, Informational post cards and business cards...we do it all. We even made a fan page for her on facebook. Billie is a very creative and talented cake baker, she can literally make any cake design look amazing and taste even better!

We had a blast producing this promotional video for Kallima Photography. Rebekah Hood is an exceptional photographer in West Palm Beach, Florida. I actually came in contact with her through facebook, oddly enough. She shot a wedding here in Lynchburg that Lyndsey and I both loved. Emails were exchanged and we flew down to Florida a few months later to shoot her promo video...Also, Beka took our engagement photos while we were there(below).

Just to be out of Lynchburg for awhile is refreshing. Hands down, South Florida is where we want to reside. Living in Virginia Beach for 12 years was nice, but to have warm weather year round...you can't beat that! I used to travel to Florida's coast a lot to surf and shoot footage for my surf video called "All The Hype".

Getting back to the Kallima video. We shot most of the footage at the gorgeous "W" hotel in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. I have seen a lot of nice hotels in my lifetime but I have never quite seen a facilty like the "W" Hotel. I could seriously make a seperate video off the footage I captured while I was there. This place is unreal! They actually had a transparent pool where you could see the people swimming above you! Great wholesome shows like Real Housewives of Orange County have filmed at this location. Seriously though, places like that makes the creativity FLOW.

Tasha Brown and Janelle Basham just finished their first book entitled "Released and Delivered".

I had the pleasure of producing a promotional video for their new book. The book is inspired by their real life events. Both ladies were pregnant at 16. The two girls became close friends after meeting at the Liberty God Parent Home in the mid 90's. Their personal stories and struggles were very moving, and I think it hits home with a lot teen girls and women in America. You can purchase their book and visit their website here.

Normally, I am not one to share something like this... but it's too funny to pass.... Liberty University just sent out their 2010 viewbook to potential college students. All individuals featured in this on-campus viewbook are either current LU students or staff.....except one....me!? Lyndsey's friend Ariel said, "Why is Brad in this booklet? He doesn't even go to Liberty??".

My point exactly, I have never even taken a class at Liberty before...I just randomly showed up with my Fiancee and they threw me into some pictures..Ha!

I had the distinct pleasure of producing a promotional video for CVCC's new 4.2 million dollar renovation of the Bedford building. The architecture was designed by one of Virginia's finest College engineering firms, Clark Nexsen. This video will be shown on the CVCC's website in the near future. Special thanks to all those involved in the project, including my amazing marketing professor, Irene Wheeler. Outside of this freelance project, I am a marketing student at CVCC. Mary + Chase | Highlights | The Homestead

Mary and Chase were married at the gorgeous Homestead Resort in Hot Springs,Va. I really enjoyed filming at this beautiful facility...Mary and Chase were super sweet people and they will have quite a bright future ahead of them.... It's interesting, that day was extremely overcast and cold but as soon as the ceremony began, the skys opened up and lighting was perfect(and they say there is no God=). As for the reception, M&C wooed their guests with a beautifully choreographed dance...the food was amazing, the atmosphere was amazing and the band....BEST event band I have ever seen! They are called "In Full" out of Charlottesville,Va. Love me some Stones and Joplin! I am considering them for my own wedding next September. Anyway, here is Chase and Mary's wedding highlights!

Ashley + Zach | Highlights

Ashley inquired about my services back in January and we kept in touch exclusively through e-mail. I usually meet with my clients well in advance of their wedding, but with busy schedules.... sometimes that doesn't happen! When the time came for their fall wedding, I had no idea what to expect other than where to be and what time to show up. I must say, Ashley and Zach are some of the nicest people you will meet. After the ceremony they went to celebrate at one of the most beautiful set ups I have ever seen in our area. Hotel Roanoke was the venue and Ashley designed the entire layout of their immaculate event! The atmosphere of the reception was off the charts! Anyway, I hope ya'll enjoyed your stay in Bora-Bora!...thats where Lyndsey I and want to go for our honeymoon=)

I have been planning this for months and finally that special day came.....

This past weekend I got engaged to my best friend and love of my life. We met two years ago and my life has never been the same since. Lyndsey, I love you more than you'll ever know and I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with you!

...Your probably wondering why she is wearing a bride's dress and your also probably wondering why we both are in water. I decided awhile ago that I wanted to offer "Trash The Dress" shoots next year. I wanted a super fun and really edgy video to promote this service...so I hired Tim Gosnell(photog) and Adam Miller(videographer) to get the job done!..Not only did they document the shoot but they were able to capture the proposal as well....thanks again guys=)!

SML Packaging:: Promotional video ::

I was offered to produce this promotional piece but I couldn't have done it without the brains of Tony with 4T Productions. SML Packaging in Lynchburg, Va manufacturers machines that can automatically drop glass bottles into packages. This business eliminates a lot of time consuming manual labor. SML is a thriving new business that wanted to expand their niche market through a promotional video. Although all interviews and shop b-roll was shot and edited by SHP, the machines' footage was shot by SML staff.

We've been busy,busy!

Here are a few wedding highlights we neglected to post due to our hectic schedule!

First, Amy + Michael Datoc...beautiful couple and wedding in Virginia Beach, VA. These guys really know how to have a good time. You can watch a snippet of their fun reception on our facebook page.

Jenna + Robbi Ranquist ...this gorgeous outdoor wedding was shot by one of our freelance videographers...Michael Oostdyk... Jenna contacted me after we had already booked her date previously. I reassured her that Michael represented SHP well and would do an amazing job at filming her wedding....this is the caliber of talent we use!

Last but not least...Ashley + Channon Dalton....who had an awesome reception at the Oakwood Country Club in Lynchburg. Ashley was so sweet and made us feel right at home with their friends and family... Congratulations guys!

Un amor | Rachael + Edgar | highlights

I met Rachael and her mother last year in Roanoke. Rachael is the kind of bride every wedding vendor could hope for, she extremely sweet, thoughtful,creative and knows what she wants! A few months later, I saw her at a bridal show in Salem,VA. This girl was going around the bridal show, hustling my company and I hadn't even filmed her wedding yet! We kept in touch vigorously through e-mail that year. She always had new ideas and revisions for her future wedding video.

Well the following July finally came around. Edgar and Rachael got married at the stunning St. Andrews Catholic church in Roanoke. I've witness a lot of vows in my time of filming weddings but I had never seen bride speak hers in another language! Edgar has roots in Guatemala and Rachael spoke her vows in spanish to her husband! The couple then headed off to the beautiful Vinton War Memorial. Rachael had the most beautiful Reception, so much style and colors and great food btw!!! It was a pleasure guys, I hope you enjoy your video and your future togther!

This video, is a montage from Holly & Billy Colonna's wedding(Norfolk,VA). Half of the video is Super 8mm film and the rest of the footage is shot in normal dv. Molly & Chris Boyd got hitched this past May. They booked last minute cause they decided it might be a good idea to to have video...yeea..good call;) The ceremony was held at a beautiful church in downtown Lexington. The kicker was the reception, which was held at VMI's Moody Hall.

Anyway, these guys were awesome and fun to work with. Their video was shot in HD not because they upgraded service but simply cause I was trying out my brand new camcorder! ..so Molly and Chris, you guys got hooked up! I hope you enjoy this highlights video and your dvd...

Also, Kellan Studios was there to take some awesome pictures...I got to see a tease of the day's events at the reception..May 30th also fell on Kelly Portnoy's birthday....who was hard at work taking all of those candid pictures!

I had a blast at Riverview Manor yesterday! I got to tell you that this place is going to blow up! RV had their first beautiful wedding of the season, and I was there to film it. People will finally get to see how gorgeous this facility actually is....nothing quite like it. There are acres upon acres of green lush scenery with multiple locations to get hitched.

Delta Star celebrates 100 years in business

I had the opportunity to do some more video work for Delta Star INC. DS called me about doing a video where they wanted to giveaway a Harley-Davidson Motorcycle to one of their customers in celebration of their 100 years in business. The mayor of Lynchburg made an appearance with a few other local officials. DS puts about 25 million back into the local Lynchburg economy, they specialize in making mid to large size industrial transformers.

I had the privilege of filming Bernice King at Liberty University, last Friday. I received a call earlier that week from First Kingdom Management, they asked me if I was familiar with the the name Bernice King? I said "No, is she a author of a book or something?". "Well actually, she is the daughter of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr and she is the convocation speaker on Friday", they replied. WOW...needless to say, I jumped on the job despite my ignorance.

Super excited for Super 8mm movie camera!

I am now offering the Super 8 medium for the 2009 wedding season. These vintage motion film cameras give you untouchable and distinct look to your wedding video. Sure you can throw a effect on your digital video footage to give that "older look" but nothing will compare to the true 8mm fine grain, lighting and overall cinematic feel to your special day. I have received some great tips from a pro in super 8. Joe from Joe Simon Productions(Texas).

HD wedding photog promo video

This was an idea brought up by local wedding photographers, Kellan Studios back in September last year. Then five months later...BAM!!...it was finished lol. I agreed to do this video because I really liked Ryan and Kelly's work and found it really inspiring. I had a fun time shooting and editing this video. It was shot in high definition and I would really like to promote more HD wedding videography this year.

Sorry Lyndsey..I had to brag that my beautiful girlfriend is on Liberty University's new revamped site. She is the girl with the purple shirt...she HATES this pic...funny story cause they said the girl next to her had so many robotic and unnatural shots and Lynd's had some really good ones that they had to compromise with Lyndsey's "worst" shot to make up for the other girl. Notice the kid in the background with the black shirt and the really bad edge up?...yea that's me...I am not going to that barber anymore.

Two years and three months living inland..WOW.

It seems really weird living two years and few months in central virginia and forgetting where I lived for all of my teen years and early 20's. Virginia Beach. I miss it a lot! I literally lived less than 10 mins away from the beach. I surfed pretty much everyday as a teenager. I know Virginia Beach has never been famous for good waves...but it didn't matter, I loved every minute spent at the beach!

Back n 2006, I produced my second surf film called "All The Hype". Obviously we didn't film it all in VB lol...I traveled, a lot. Along the way the dvd picked up some good support. WRV which did a lot the dvd distribution(you can purchase a copy online or at any their shops) and Jade Tree Records which provided us with some really awesome music.

I am happy to announce that we have a new wedding venue in the Central Virginia area. It is called Riverview Manor and it is a breathe of fresh air from Lynchburg's "typical" venues(plus more reasonable). Mary Helen Forest is the owner of this beautiful manor home and is a pleasure to work with. The area surrounding this manor is absolutely amazing!...Riverview Manor is ideal for beautiful outdoor weddings and even has it's own HUGE commercial tent and private spring river, seriously, this place is going to blow up!...so book while you still can...I am taking care of the newly revamped site...check it out!
